  • Fourth-Quarter Run Powers MIT to 12-6 Win over UMass Dartmouth

    MIT rattled off six goals during a span of seven minutes in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 12-6 non-conference men's lacrosse win over UMass Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon. Senior Graham Davis (Crofton, Md.) tallied four goals and two assists for the Engineers, with all but two of his points coming during the late rally. Donovan Prozinski paced the Corsairs with two goals and seven groundballs.

    Four unanswered goals spanning the first and second quarters gave MIT a lead it would not relinquish as it went on to defeat Wentworth Institute of Technology, 12-9, in a non-conference men's lacrosse tilt on Thursday. Senior Graham Davis (Crofton, Md.) paced the Engineers with four goals and recorded his 200th career point, joining Harris Stolzenberg '17 as the only players in program history to accomplish this feat. Ben Coakley and Jacob Eldred both produced two goals and an assist for the Leopards.

    Three goals by sophomore Jack Strachan (Moresville, N.C.) during the fourth quarter helped MIT build a small cushion before holding on for a 9-8 victory over the University of New England in a non-conference men's lacrosse game on Saturday. Strachan finished with four goals and one assist while senior David Klee (East Greenbush, N.Y.) broke the record for career caused turnovers, eclipsing the mark of 72 set by John Kramer '16.

    Trailing 5-2 late in the first quarter, a record-breaking goal by MIT senior Graham Davis (Crofton, Md.) ignited a 14-0 run that resulted in an 18-8 victory over UMass Boston in a non-conference men's lacrosse game on Tuesday. Davis, who finished with three goals and two assists, eclipsed the mark of 140 career goals set by Matt Van Horne '02.
  • Fast Start Propels Merchant Marine Past MIT, 18-12, in Men's Lacrosse Season Opener

    The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first quarter and maintained a comfortable cushion en route to an 18-12 victory over MIT in the season-opener for both men's lacrosse teams on Sunday. Nick Treon racked up a game-high eight points on five goals and three assists for the Mariners while senior Graham Davis (Crofton, Md.) posted three goals and an assist for the Engineers.

  • DAPER Announces Walter Alessi Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Endowed Fund

    The MIT Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) announced today the establishment of the Walter Alessi Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Endowed Fund to honor Walter Alessi’s 43 seasons as MIT men’s lacrosse head coach and to provide a dedicated source of endowment funding to support men’s lacrosse at MIT. With this recognition, Alessi becomes the first coach in the history of MIT athletics to have the position he held over his career to be endowed and named in his honor. Nearly 200 men’s lacrosse alumni and friends contributed to the fundraising for the Alessi Endowed Fund, the successful completion of which was announced at the celebration of Alessi’s career on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Samberg Center on the MIT campus.
