CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT men's lacrosse team fell to nationally-ranked No. 9 Tufts University, 18-3, on Saturday. Jonathan Stolmeier paced the Engineers (0-1) with two goals while Paul Steiner recorded the third tally for Tech.
The Jumbos rattled off 12 unanswered goals during the first 20 minutes of the game. MIT ended the shutout with 2:48 remaining in the second period, when Tyler Sorba set up Steiner for the goal. One minute later, the Engineers struck again, with Stolmeier connecting on a pass from Patrick Bossi.
Tufts tacked on six more goals as it held Tech scoreless for a majority of the second half. Stolmeier ended the drought by scoring with 1:29 left in the game.
In the net, Christopher Ng collected 17 saves for MIT.
