Springfield Tops MIT, 15-6

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the second game in a row, MIT fell by a margin of 15-6, this time coming at the hands of Springfield College on Saturday. Jonathan Stolmeier led the Engineers' attack with two goals and an assist.
MIT (5-5, 3-4 Pilgrim) struck first out of the gate on an unassisted tally by Stolmeier. The Pride posted three consecutive goals to close out the opening period. Stolmeier struck again with another unassisted goal after 47 seconds had expired in the second stanza. Springfield scored twice before the intermission for a 5-2 lead.
Tech narrowed the margin to one early in the third quarter after goals by Brennan Sherry and Stefano Young. With just six minutes remaining in the period, the Pride scored eight unanswered goals which resulted in a 13-4 advantage.
Both squads traded goals in the final frame, setting up the final score. Dylan Roden ended an 11-minute scoring drought when he connected on a feed from Ryan Ballentine. Tyler Sorba recorded the Engineers' last goal of the day by converting a pass from Stolmeier. In net, Zach Brewer collected 20 saves.
