CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men’s soccer team collected four All-Conference honors as announced by the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) on Tuesday. This was the 11th year in a row in which the Engineers have earned at least two awards from the league.
Zachary Kabelac, the reigning Rookie of the Year, was tabbed for
his second straight First-Team selection along with fellow forward
Christian Therkelsen. Max Stein-Golenbock was named to the
All-Conference Second Team for the second year in a row while
rookie Ben Lewis was also a Second-Team pick.
Kabelac paced the NEWMAC in goals per game, points, and points per
game; ranked second in goals, tied for third in game-winning goals,
and was eighth in assists. In addition, he led the squad with 14
goals and 31 points. Therkelsen ranked second in the NEWMAC in
assists per game, third in assists and points per game, fourth in
points, fifth in goals per game, and tied for fifth in goals. He
finished the season as MIT’s team leader in assists (nine)
and was second in goals (nine) and points (27).
Stein-Golenbock and Lewis provided stability and consistency in the
Cardinal and Gray’s midfield this past season.
Stein-Golenbock ranked third on the team with three assists while
Lewis placed third on the squad in goals (four) and points (10).
