NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior Joey DeRosa's header in the 48th minute was the only goal of the game as MIT held on for a 1-0 win over the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's soccer game.

The Engineers ran their unbeaten streak to nine games and remained in first place in the NEWMAC with a 3-0-1 record while improving to 9-2-1 overall. The Bears were shutout for the fourth straight game and dropped to 5-7-1 overall and 1-3-1 in conference play.

Freshman Andrew Fijan had his first career assist on DeRosa's first goal of the season, just 2:20 into the second half. Junior Dylan Rankin made two saves to record his third shutout of the season for MIT, which outshot Coast Guard 10-5. Senior Chris Tarbell had four saves in the loss for the Bears.
