Men’s Soccer Announces 2011 Schedule
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2011 MIT men's soccer schedule features four games that will be the inaugural meetings for both squads with three occurring during the first week of the season. The Engineers open the year at the University of Southern Maine Classic on September 2 when they take on the host Huskies before squaring off with St. Joseph's College of Maine the next day.
The Cardinal and Gray's first home game is on September 7 against Framingham State University while its NEWMAC opener will be against Springfield College on September 17. Four days later, MIT squares off with Roger Williams University for the first time in program history.
In October, five of the Engineers' seven games will be held on Roberts Field. A four-game homestand begins on October 1 against NCAA Tournament qualifier Williams College. The only time the Engineers and Ephs have faced each other was in the Sweet 16 of the 2003 NCAA Tournament in which Tech topped Williams, 2-1, in overtime. Next up will be Salve Regina University (October 5), followed by NEWMAC champion Babson College (October 8) and conference rival U.S. Coast Guard Academy (October 15).
MIT's final home-game will be on October 24 against Wentworth Institute of Technology before closing out the regular season at NEWMAC foe Wheaton College on October 29.
