Box Score

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following a scoreless first half, MIT exploded for four goals in 17 minutes en route to a 4-1 victory over host Emmanuel College. The win raised the Engineers’ ledger to 8-0-1 on the year and extended their Institute record-setting unbeaten streak to nine.

The Saints’ defense was impenetrable in the opening frame as it denied the Cardinal and Gray any scoring attempts on five corner kicks and a penalty kick midway through the period. MIT ended the deadlock 22 seconds into the second stanza when Zachary Kabelac’s shot that was set up by Christian Therkelsen deflected off the goalie and into the net. Emmanuel tallied the equalizer five minutes later with Gavin Molta finding the back of the net on a feed from Kelly Louis-Charles.

MIT struck again in the 56th minute with an unassisted strike by Neil Zimmerman for what proved to be the game-winning goal. The momentum swung to the Engineers as they rattled off two goals in less than a minute. David Nole converted a corner kick pass by Jason Zhu at the 61:47 mark before Zhu capped the scoring with a solo effort 30 seconds later.

Tom Caldwell started the contest in net for MIT, collecting two saves in 35 minutes of action. Dylan Rankin played the next 45 minutes, picking up his third win of the season, while Javier Duarte wrapped up the game for the Engineers.
