CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT has selected three individuals to fill head coaching positions on its varsity athletics staff. Julie Soriero, Director of Athletics and Department Head of DAPER, announced Aidan Byrne as the head men’s soccer coach, Michael Kalin as a head coach for sailing and Thierry Lincou as head squash coach.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Nadeem Mazen, the head coach of the MIT squash program, will be leaving his position with the team effective June 2 he has announced. Mazen has been the head coach of the Engineers for the past five seasons.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - On the second day of the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships on Saturday, freshman Tyler Finkelstein (Greenwich, Conn.) walked away with a record of 1-1, much as he did yesterday. He wrapped up the weekend with a record of 2-2, after winning his match against James Reiss of George Washington and falling to Rishi Jalan of Cornell yesterday.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Freshman Tyler Finkelstein (Greenwich, Conn.) was the lone representative for MIT at the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships this weekend. He will be competing in the Molloy Division, which is taking place at UPenn from Friday, Feb. 28 through Saturday, March 1.
BELMONT, Mass. - Originally scheduled to play Connecticut College at home but changed due to the weather, #7 seed MIT squash faced #2 seed Hobart College at Belmont Hill School on Friday evening for the first round of the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Nationals.
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Six members of the MIT squash team played in the first round of matches at the Division III Individual Invitational at Bowdoin College on Friday evening. Nationals will take place from Friday through Sunday.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second time this season, the MIT squash team defeated Boston University, shutting out the Terriers with a score of 9-0 on Monday evening. Back in November, Tech opened its 2013-14 campaign on the road with a close 5-4 win over the Terriers. With four consecutive victories, the Engineers now hold a record of 8-4.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – At its first match in almost two months, the MIT squash team won against Northeastern University, 5-4, at home on Wednesday evening. This is the second time this season that the two teams have met, with the Engineers winning against the Huskies by the same score back in November. Tech has won its last three consecutive matches and is currently 7-4 on the season.
