CAMBRIDGE, Mass. For the second time this season, the MIT squash team defeated Boston University, shutting out the Terriers with a score of 9-0 on Monday evening. Back in November, Tech opened its 2013-14 campaign on the road with a close 5-4 win over the Terriers. With four consecutive victories, the Engineers now hold a record of 8-4.

MIT easily won the top three spots on the ladder, with freshmen leading the Cardinal and Gray, as they did last week. Tyler Finkelstein (Greenwich, Conn.) took over at the top, winning against Ben Bunjapamai, 11-6, 11-6, 11-2. Nikhil Punwaney (Dubai, United Arab Emirates)  had an 11-3, 11-3, 11-6 victory over Lu Quan Tan at No. 2 and Dominic Hansford (Darien, Conn.), who is still undefeated this season, won at No. 3 against Jack Chambers, 11-2, 11-2, 11-6.

In the fourth spot, fellow freshman Thomas Cowan (Concord, Mass.) had to fight to win against Jacob Roscoe in five. The first game the two played ended with a score of 23-21 in Roscoe's favor, which is double the score of a typical squash game. Cowan went on to the win the next two, 13-11, 11-5, but dropped the fourth, 12-14. He was able to break the tie and win the final game by a score of 14-12.

At No. 5, junior David Bian (Austin, Texas) won against Allan Chan, 11-6, 13-11, 11-0 and, at No. 6, classmate Gray Riley (Wellesley, Mass.) won his first, second and fourth games against Map Teeravithayapinyo, 11-5, 11-3, 15-13, dropping the third game, 3-11. Senior Abhi Mitra (Medford, Mass.) defeated Chris Schwagerl 11-3, 11-4, 11-9, while sophomore Marina Crowe (Wayland, Mass.) had three close games against Zeemo Kim, winning 11-8, 11-8, 11-6. At No. 9, junior Sarah Fay (South Hadley, Mass.) won in four, taking the match against Omid Maalizadeh, 11-7, 13-11, 11-9, only dropping the second game by a score of 9-11.

Tech's final home match of the season will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 5 when it hosts Tufts University at 7:00 p.m. This will be the second time this season that the Engineers have faced the Jumbos, having defeated them at home at the end of November.
