MIT Men's Swimming Finishes in 5th at NCAAs
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - MIT's men's swimming and diving team wrapped up the 2013-14 season on Saturday evening, coming in fifth place at the NCAA Division III Championships with 236 points. Johns Hopkins finished nine points ahead of the Engineers in fourth, the College of New Jersey was sixth with 203 and Kenyon won the title with 480 points.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On an eventful third day of competition at the NCAA Championships, four members of the MIT men’s swimming and diving team swam in the championship finals in their respective events, many of them surpassing their seedings and improving their times.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On the second day of the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships, the MIT men's swimming and diving team finished in second place in the 400-yard medley relay. Yesterday, the Engineers were national runner-ups in the 200-yard medley relay.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT’s men’s swimming and diving team will be sending 11 Engineers to Indianapolis, Ind. for the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships, which will take place at the IU Natatorium at IUIPUI from Wednesday, March 19 through Saturday, March 22.

TROY, N.Y. - Senior Danil Tyulmankov (Stamford, Conn.) and freshman Harry Lubowe (Laguna Hills, Calif.) returned to the pool on Saturday afternoon for the second day of the NCAA Division III Diving Regional at RPI.

TROY, N.Y. - Senior Danil Tyulmankov (Stamford, Conn.) and freshman Harry Lubowe (Laguna Hills, Calif.) participated in the 2014 NCAA Division III Diving Regional at Robison Pool on RPI's campus. The second and final day of Regionals will take place tomorrow afternoon.

NEWMAC Announces Winter Academic All-Conference Awards
BOSTON, Mass. – A league-leading 30 athletes represented MIT on the 2014 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Winter Academic All-Conference Team. Criteria includes a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale, achieving second year academic status at his or her institution, and being a member of a varsity team for the entire season.

MIT Men's Swimming & Diving Claims 6th Straight NEWMAC Title
WORCESTER, Mass. - No. 6 MIT's men's swimming and diving team captured its sixth consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title on Sunday evening. Tech wrapped up the four-day meet with 1608.5 points, which is 400 more points than it scored last year.

No. 6 Men's Swimming Takes over Top Spot at NEWMACs
WORCESTER, Mass. - No. 6 MIT men's swimming and diving ascended to the top of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships leader board following a strong second day of competition at WPI on Friday. Sixteen Engineers individually qualified for finals, while all four of Tech's relays placed in the top 10 at prelims this morning.

NORTON, Mass. - MIT's men's swimming and diving team raced well on the second day of the non-scoring Wheaton Invitational on Saturday, ending the weekend with multiple wins. Junior Ben Bauchwitz (Hershey, Pa.) led the Cardinal and Gray with three individual wins throughout the day.

MIT Receives Two NEWMAC Awards
BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Michael Liao (Newport Beach, Calif.) was named the NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week and was part of the 200-yard medley relay, along with sophomores Bo Mattix (La Canada, Calif.) and Sean Corcoran (Huntersville, N.C.), and junior Austin Fathman (Hamilton, Mich.), that received Relay of the Week accolades on Monday.

Engineers Wrap up Senior Day with a Win against Amherst
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On senior day and at its final home meet of the 2013-14 season, the MIT men's swimming and diving team defeated Amherst College by a score of 185-115. This is the third year in a row that the Engineers have come out on top in a meet against the Lord Jeffs. Six different MIT swimmers picked up wins throughout the day, with sophomore Thomas Norris (Cincinnati, Ohio) leading the way with his three individual victories.

Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to Williams in Hard-Fought Meet
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - In an incredibly close meet from start to finish, the MIT men's swimming and diving team fell to Williams College by a score of 159-137 on Friday evening. Senior Michael Liao (Newport Beach, Calif.) and junior Austin Fathman (Hamilton, Mich.) each won two events, while sophomore Luke Schlueter (St. Louis, Mo.) won one of his races. The Engineers' 200-yard freestyle A relay also finished in first place.

MIT Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats Tufts at Home
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After changing the location of the meet due to facility problems at Tufts University's pool, the MIT men's swimming and diving team hosted the Jumbos over the weekend, winning by a score of 190-110. Of the 16, the Engineers were victorious in 11 of them.

Swimming and Diving Meet vs. Tufts Location Changed
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT’s swimming and diving meet against Tufts University that was scheduled to take place at Tufts on Saturday will now be hosted at MIT, due to facility problems at the Jumbos’ pool. Taking to the water first will be the divers, who will compete on Friday, Jan. 17 at 5:00 p.m., while the swim meet will occur the following day, Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1:00 p.m.

BOSTON, Mass. – MIT men’s swimming and diving collected two New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly awards on Monday afternoon. The 400-yard medley relay picked up Relay of the Week, while senior Danil Tyulmankov (Stamford, Conn.) was named Diver of the Week for the first time in his career.

Tech Begins 2014 Portion of Season with win against Coast Guard
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - At its first meet since the Winter Invite over a month ago, the MIT men's swimming and diving team defeated New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival the U.S. Coast Guard Academy by a score of 203.5-74.5 at home on Saturday afternoon.

Engineers Ranked Fifth in Latest CSCAA Poll
PHOENIX, Ariz. – In the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll that was released over the weekend, the MIT men’s swimming and diving team are ranked fifth among all Division III programs. Former NCAA champion Denison University holds the top spot, while 2013 national champion Kenyon College is second.

MIT Swimming and Diving Raises Funds for Team Theo
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On deck at the MIT Winter Invitational this past weekend, swimmers and divers from the nine competing teams were seen wearing orange and blue t-shirts with a sketch of an armadillo. In an effort to support recently paralyzed MIT student-athlete Theo St. Francis, the MIT swim team sold t-shirts prior to the meet to raise funds for Theo’s family’s medical expenses.

Engineers Finish First at MIT Winter Invitational
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Men's swimming and diving ended the MIT Winter Invitational in first place with 1322.5 points, ahead of Keene State, who finished in second place with 980.5 points. Sophomore Brad Jokubaitis (Newtown, Pa.) broke the MIT record in the 200-yard backstroke and classmate Luke Schlueter (St. Louis, Mo.) broke his own school record in the 200-yard butterfly.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On the opening night of the two-day, three-session MIT Winter Invitational, the MIT men's swimming and diving team won three events and earned seven NCAA B cuts. Tech currently sits in first place with 392.5 points, ahead of Keene State in second with 329.5 points.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - At its second meet of the 2013-14 season, the MIT men's swimming and diving team defeated host Bowdoin College, 215-82 and New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Babson College. 240-57. Tech won 13 of 17 events, taking first through third place in an impressive eight events and claiming first through fourth in three of them.

SOMERS, Wis. - Sophomore Bo Mattix (La Canada, Calif.) was named the CollegeSwimming.com Counsilman Hunsaker Men's Division III Swimmer of the Week for his efforts in MIT's first dual meet of the season against Springfield College last weekend.

MIT Swim Teams Race in the Eighth Annual Hour of Power
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Joining thousands of athletes across the country, the MIT men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams raced relays to support the Ted Mullin “Leave it in the Pool” Hour of Power on Tuesday. In the seven years since the event first began, participants have raised over $410,000 to support research at the University of Chicago into the causes and treatment of sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer, in young people.

MIT Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats Springfield at Season-Opener
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – At its first dual meet of the season, the MIT men’s swimming and diving team defeated Springfield College on the road on Saturday afternoon by a score of 233-61. The Engineers won every single event except for one and were victorious in every swimming event. Senior Michael Liao (Newport Beach, Calif.) was the lone MIT swimmer to win two individual events, winning the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke.

MIT Swimming and Diving Welcomes Theo St. Francis Back to the Pool
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - On Friday, Nov. 2, the MIT swimming and diving teams welcomed home one of their own. Theo St. Francis, who was paralyzed in an accident in late August, joined the team during one of his last days in Boston before heading to his next rehab venue prior to going home to California. In a practice designed to inspire and honor Theo, it quickly became evident that it would work the other way around - he would be inspiring the team.

Men's Swimming & Diving Wins Every Event at Batterman Relays
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – As it has done every year for the past 10 years, the MIT men’s swimming and diving team officially opened the season at the Charlie Batterman Relay Meet, welcoming Bentley University and Wheaton College to the Zesiger Center Pool on Saturday afternoon. Tech was victorious in each of the nine events, sometimes taking first through third in an event.

Brown Selected as Associate Head Coach of Swimming and Diving at MIT
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Karin Brown has been named the associate head coach of the men's and women's swimming and diving programs at MIT announced Julie Soriero, MIT’s Director of Athletics and Department Head. Brown brings almost a decade of coaching experience to the Engineers' programs.

Men's Swimming & Diving Picked to Repeat as NEWMAC Champs in Preseason Poll
BOSTON, Mass. – MIT men’s swimming and diving was picked to repeat as conference champions in the 2013 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) preseason poll that was released on Friday afternoon. The Engineers have won five consecutive NEWMAC titles and eight overall since the inception of the league in 1998 and were the unanimous number one selection voted on by the seven coaches in the league.

MIT Swimming & Diving Earns CSCAA Academic Accolades
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams earned Scholar All-America Team honors for academic excellence during the spring of 2013, as announced by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The CSCAA honors all college and university swimming and diving teams who have attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or higher.
