TROY, N.Y. - Senior Danil Tyulmankov (Stamford, Conn.) and freshman Harry Lubowe (Laguna Hills, Calif.) returned to the pool on Saturday afternoon for the second day of the NCAA Division III Diving Regional at RPI. This time, the pair, along with 17 other divers looking to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships in just over two weeks, competed on the 3-meter board.
It was Lubowe who finished highest for MIT this time, coming in ninth place with a score of 458.85. Tyulmankov finished directly behind him in 10th place with a score of 458. Yesterday, on the 1-meter board, Tyulmankov took ninth with 446.65 and Lubowe was 10th with 444.10.
At the conclusion of the two-day Regional, eight divers automatically qualified for NCAAs. Lubowe is an alternate on 3-meter and Tyulmankov is an alternate on the 1-meter board, with both being the next person in line who would make it to the Championships on their respective boards.
Next up for MIT's swimming and diving teams is the NCAA Championships, which will take place at Indiana University from Wednesday, March 19 through Saturday, March 22.
