Rookie Power Propels MIT at Cardinal Invitational
Dec. 3, 2005
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - MIT made a strong appearance at the Cardinal Invitational this Saturday, winning the 400 medley relay and getting some solid swims from its first-year class. The Engineers missed the final session, but swam well in the four-team meet.
MIT's freshman class headlined Saturday's top performers. Deke Hu swam a season-best 2:01.06 to out-touch fellow frosh Jeremy Chang for first place in the 200 IM, while also securing runner-up honors in the 50 and 100 fly. Despite missing on a chance to win the IM, Chang responded with a first-place finish in the 100 breast and a runner-up finish in the 50 breast.
Freshman Peter Wellings also enjoyed a pair of second-place efforts, just missing on wins in the 50 and 100 back.
