CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Rookie Tim Stumbaugh earned NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week accolades after delivering a nearly flawless weekend in helping nationally-ranked No. 11 MIT maintain its perfect record on the season.
On Saturday, Stumbaugh swam the backstroke on Tech's winning 400 medley relay while sweeping both individual backstroke events as the Engineers defeated Colby, 214-71.
In MIT's decisive victories over Coast Guard and Springfield on Sunday, Stumbaugh again swept both backstroke events while helping the Engineers complete a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 IM. MIT won 27 out of 32 events during the weekend, while improving to 6-0 on the year.
