BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Edwin Zhang (Falls Church, Va.) and junior Eugene Oh (Alpharetta, Ga.) were named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Doubles Team of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Last week was busy for the No. 28 Engineers, who won half of its four matches. Tech had 8-1 victories over NEWMAC rivals Wheaton College and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, while dropping an 8-1 decision to No. 18 Gustavus Adolphus College and falling to No. 12 Bowdoin in a very close match by a score of 5-4.
Zhang and Oh went undefeated in doubles action at No. 2. The duo had an 8-6 win over Juan Luis Chu and Joe MacGibbon of Gustavus Adolphus before defeating Wheaton's Will White and Ned Terrace the next day, 8-4. They ended the weekend by handing Luke Trinka and Chase Savage of Bowdoin an 8-6 loss.
Tech has just two more home matches of the 2014 season. On Thursday, April 10, the Engineers will host Salem State University at 4:00 p.m. and, on Saturday, April 12, NEWMAC rival Clark University will head to campus for a 1:00 p.m. match.
