  • Men’s Tennis Honored By ITA For Academic Success

    TEMPE, Ariz. (July 26) – For the tenth straight season, the MIT men’s tennis team has been recognized for its academic success by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with the association’s All-Academic Team award. In addition, five student-athletes from the program received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, which marks the tenth time in the history of the award in which at-least five individuals have been recognized by the ITA. In total, 237 teams and 1,364 student-athletes were recognized this year.
  • Barr Closes Season As All-American At NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Singles Championship

    CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 25) - MIT men’s tennis sophomore Tyler Barr (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) became the program’s 26th All-American with his three-set win in the opening round of the 2017 NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Singles Championship Tournament on Thursday afternoon at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Today marked Barr's first career appearance in the individual national tournament and is the first Engineer to reach the singles tournament since the 2012-13 season.
  • Men's Tennis Falls To No. 7 Bowdoin, 5-0, In Regional Final

    BRUNSWICK, Maine (May 13) - On Saturday afternoon at the Pickard Tennis Courts in Brunswick, Maine the No. 20 ranked MIT men's tennis team fell to No. 7 and defending national champion Bowdoin College, 5-0, in the NCAA Tournament's Regional Championship match. The loss brings MIT's season to a close with a record of 18-5, while Bowdoin advances to the National Quarterfinals in Chattanooga, Tennessee next week. Despite the score being 5-0, the Engineers made a rally during singles and had the match been played to completion it would have been a lot closer than the final score was.
  • No. 20 Men's Tennis Tops No. 40 Stevens, 5-1, In Second Round Of NCAA Tournament

    FALMOUTH, Maine (May 12) - The No. 20 ranked MIT men's tennis team earned a 5-1 win over No. 40 Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Due to wet courts this morning, the match was moved inside to Foreside Fitness Tennis Center in Falmouth. With the win, the Engineers registered their 18th win of the year, which tied the most that they have had since the 2012-13 season when they went 18-3.
  • Barr Selected To Compete In NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Singles Tournament

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 10) – For the first time since the 2012-2013 season, the MIT men’s tennis team will have a student-athlete represented at the NCAA Division III Singles Individual Championship. Sophomore Tyler Barr (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) will travel to the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee for the Singles Tournament from May 25-27, which is scheduled to begin after the conclusion of the team championship. Barr will find out who he will face-off against when the draw is revealed on May 24, the final day of the team championship.
  • Men’s Tennis Lands Six On NEWMAC All-Conference Team

    BOSTON, Mass. (May 9) – Six members of the No. 20 MIT men’s tennis team have been named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference Team for their outstanding efforts this spring. Of 16 possible spots on the All-Conference Team this year, MIT took home six slots to lead the league in selections.

(May 8) – Coming off its 19th straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship yesterday afternoon, the MIT men’s tennis team has learned that they will travel to Bowdoin College for the second and third rounds of the 2017 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (May 7) - The MIT men’s tennis team earned its 19th straight New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship on Sunday afternoon as the top-seeded Engineers defeated second-seeded Babson College, 6-0, in Cambridge. With the win, MIT receives the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Tournament which will begin next weekend.
  • No. 1 Men's Tennis Shuts Out No. 4 Springfield; Remains In Hunt For 19th NEWMAC Title

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (May 6) - On Saturday afternoon, the MIT men’s tennis team advanced to the 2017 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship match with a 5-0 win over fourth-seeded Springfield College. The Engineers will now host No. 2 seed Babson College on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Cambridge. No. 2 Babson advanced with a 5-1 win over No. 3 Coast Guard in the day’s second semifinal. This will mark the 10th time overall and fifth straight year that MIT and Babson will be meeting in the league championship match.
  • Men’s Tennis Earns Five NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (May 2) – Five members of the No. 20 MIT men’s tennis team have been named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men’s Tennis Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by the league office. The Engineers took five of the 16 slots and tied with Springfield for the most selections this spring.
  • Men's Tennis Clinches 18th NEWMAC Regular Season Title With Shutout of Emerson on Senior Day

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 26) - The MIT men’s tennis team clinched their 18th New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Regular Season Championship in the last 19 years this afternoon as the Engineers blanked Emerson College, 9-0, on Senior Day. With the victory, MIT will be the top seed and host the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament. In addition, the Engineers will receive a first round bye and await the winner of the No. 4/No. 5 match for the semifinals which will take place on Saturday, May 6 in Cambridge.

(April 24) - The MIT men's tennis team, ranked No. 22 in the latest ITA Division III National Poll, improved to a perfect 5-0 in league play today as the Engineers defeated Clark University, 8-1, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest this afternoon at the Corash Tennis Courts in Worcester.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 18) - On Tuesday afternoon in Cambridge, the No. 22 nationally-ranked MIT men’s tennis team was defeated by No. 34 Brandeis University, 7-2.
  • No. 22 MIT Blanks Coast Guard, 9-0

    The nationally ranked No. 22 MIT men’s tennis team registered a 9-0 victory at NEWMAC foe the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday. This was the fourth time this season and second time during conference play that the Engineers swept all of the matches.

  • No. 21 Men's Tennis Rolls Past Wheaton; Extends Win Streak To Four

    NORTON, Mass. (April 12) - The No. 21 nationally-ranked MIT men's tennis team rolled past Wheaton College, 9-0, on Wednesday afternoon as the Engineers extended their win streak to four and improved to 3-0 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. MIT is now a perfect 25-0 against Wheaton in the all-time series, which dates back to 1998.

(April 8) - The No. 21 nationally-ranked MIT men’s tennis team earned the program’s 100th New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory this afternoon as the Engineers bested Springfield College, 6-3, inside the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble. MIT is now 100-1 all-time in NEWMAC regular season contests, which began at to the beginning of the 1998-99 season.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 7) - The No. 21 nationally-ranked MIT men’s tennis team came away with a 7-2 victory over non-conference foe Vassar College on Friday afternoon in Cambridge. In the all-time series with Vassar which dates back to 2007-08, MIT is now 4-1 against the Brewers. In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Rankings, MIT came in at No. 7 and Vassar was No. 16.
  • No. 21 MIT Opens NEWMAC Play With 7-2 Win Against Babson

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (April 5) - The No. 21 nationally-ranked MIT men’s tennis team defeated Babson College, 7-2, in its New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener on Wednesday afternoon inside the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble. Heading into today’s match MIT was ranked No. 7 in New England, while Babson stood at No. 20 in the region. In the all-time series with Babson, which dates back to 1983, MIT is now 49-2 against the Beavers.

(March 8) - Competing for the first time this spring outdoors, the No. 22 ranked MIT men's tennis team came away with a 9-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon. The Engineers are now 5-0 all-time against the Chargers in the series, which dates back to 2009.
