No. 20 Tufts Topples MIT, 6-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In its second straight meeting with a NESCAC squad, the MIT men's tennis team fell to nationally-ranked No. 20 Tufts University, 6-3, on Saturday. The Engineers, ranked No. 10 in the northeast, saw their ledger drop to 6-3 on the year.

Eric Beren and Ken Van Tilburg collaborated for an 8-0 win in the top doubles position while David Iba and Kevin Pang picked up an 8-2 victory in the next spot. In the No. 3 slot, Peden Nichols and Michael Price lost, 8-1.

In the No. 3 singles position, Pang bounced back from a 6-4 opening-set loss to capture the next two sets, 6-2, 7-6, for the Engineers' lone win. Beren dropped a tough 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 decision in the No. 1 slot. Van Tilburg fell by scores of 6-4, 6-2, while Nichols was defeated, 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 4 spot. Ryan Castonia recorded a 6-0, 6-1 loss as Price was topped, 6-3, 6-1.
