Men's Tennis Opens Season With Win Over Wesleyan

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT men's tennis team kicked off its fall campaign by defeating Wesleyan University, 8-1, on Tuesday. The victory was the Engineers' 33rd in 53 meetings against the Cardinals in a series that dates back to the 1922-23 season.

In the top doubles spot, Thomas Dohlman and Eric Beren collaborated for an 8-5 win. Mark Egan and Peden Nichols teamed up for an 8-4 victory while Jonathan Farm and David Iba completed the sweep with an 8-6 decision. In a exhibition match, Manuel Rivera and Ryan Castonia record an 8-2 win.

Dohlman led off singles play by winning his No. 1 match, 6-3, 6-2. Beren recorded a 6-4, 6-1 victory while Egan won, 6-1, 6-4. Nichols lost a tough match in the No. 4 spot by scores of 3-6, 6-4, 10-6. Farm finished with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the No. 5 position as Colin Klick closed the match with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.
