Ken Van Tilburg Named NEWMAC Singles Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Following a 2-0 week in which MIT captured the NEWMAC Men's Tennis regular season title, Ken Van Tilburg was selected the conference's Singles Player of the Week. The award is his second from the league as he earned Doubles Team of the Week accolades along with Eric Beren on March 18.

Last Wednesday, Van Tilburg defeated his foe from Brandeis University, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, in the No. 3 position as the Engineers recorded a 6-3 team victory. On Saturday, he picked up a 6-3, 6-2 decision in the No. 2 spot versus Wheaton College that powered MIT to a 9-0 win.

The Cardinal and Gray will continue its season on Saturday, April 26 at the NEWMAC Championship Tournament hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The defending champions and top-seeded Engineers will face either No. 4 Wheaton College or No. 5 Coast Guard at 10:30 a.m.
