Samuel Harmatz Named NEWMAC Rookie of the Year

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 2009 Men's Tennis All-Conference Team on Tuesday, with MIT picking up six first-team plaudits. Samuel Harmatz was voted Rookie of the Year, marking the Engineers’ second straight selection and fourth overall.

The Cardinal and Gray swept the First-Team Doubles awards, with Kevin Pang and Ken Van Tilburg leading the way in the No. 1 spot. David Iba and Brian Wee followed with Harmatz and Peden Nichols rounding out the group.

Van Tilburg received his second straight First Team-selection in the No. 2 singles position as Harmatz received No. 4 singles accolades. Nichols capped his career with his seventh award after being named to the First Team for the No. 5 singles slot.
