CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT men's track & field head coach Halston Taylor was recently named the New England Division III Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) after helping the Engineers win the New England championship for the first time since 2003 and eighth overall.
Under Taylor's guidance, the Cardinal and Gray snapped Williams College's streak of eight straight New England Division III titles, winning the team title by 15.5 points over the Ephs. Tech also earned its 12th straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship earlier this spring and will send seven competitors to this weekend's NCAA Division III championship meet.
Taylor received regional coach of the year accolades earlier this year for men's cross country. He has also been recognized during the 2010 indoor season and as New England women's coach of the year in the 2009 and 2011 outdoor campaigns.
