Motley Named NEWMAC Field Athlete of the Week

BOSTON, Mass. - Following a busy weekend for the No. 16 MIT men's outdoor track and field team, sophomore Carrington Motley (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Over the weekend, the Engineers hosted the Sean Collier Invitational, which was renamed and dedicated to MIT Police Officer Collier, who was killed in the line of duty in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing last year. Tech won five events and swept the top two or three positions in a number of them.

Motley destroyed the field in the Triple Jump, adding a foot to his personal best in 48-03.50 and moving him to second on the Engineers' top-ten list.

Next up for MIT is the Penn Relays, which will take place at UPenn on Thursday, April 24. Tech will compete for its 15th consecutive NEWMAC title on Saturday, April 26 at Mount Holyoke College.
