TROY, N.Y. – Three members of the No. 15 Engineers' men's outdoor track and field team kicked off the two-day ECAC Division III Championships on Thursday at RPI in Troy, N.Y. On the last weekend of qualification before the NCAA Championships, MIT track and field student-athletes will be competing at RPI and the IC4A Championships at Princeton University through Friday.
In the pole vault, junior Benjamin Schreck (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) finished second with a personal record height of 15-11.25. This moves Schreck to fifth on Tech's top performers list. Finishing eight in the event for the Engineers, senior Jordan Mizerak (Lexington, Mass.) cleared 14-11.50, less than four inches short of his personal best set earlier this season.
Tech's other entry for the day was sophomore Angel Echevarria (Sacramento, Calif.) who competed in the triple jump, finishing in a tie for 21st clearing 44-04.
MIT will return to the track on Friday for the second and final day of competition in Troy.
