Mary Saxer is beginning her third year as an assistant pole vault coach for the Engineers. She attended the University of Notre Dame where she became a two-time Division 1 NCAA All-American, three time Big East Conference champion, and broke the school record jumping a personal best at the time of 4.30m.
Upon graduating in 2009 with a degree in business marketing, Mary decided to pursue her Olympic dreams. She lived and trained full time in Indiana at Notre Dame for three years, where she was an assistant pole vault coach. Upon moving to Boston in the fall of 2012 she joined the Engineers as an assistant vault coach.
Mary currently lives in Boston, with her husband Justin Sibears, and trains full time at MIT. She was the 2014 Indoor U.S. National Champion in the vault, finished 2013 ranked 9th in the world, and has a personal best of 4.71m.
