
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. With the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship just a week away, the MIT mens and womens track and field teams headed to Smith College for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship meet. The womens squad, who recently moved up to No. 2 in the country, the highest ranking in program history, finished 11th of 43 scoring teams with a limited number of entrants. BOSTON, Mass. A week after capturing its 11th New England Division III Championship, the No. 12 ranked MIT mens track & field team took on the top teams across all Divisions at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championship hosted by Boston University. Stephen Morton set yet another Institute record, his sixth overall, and the Engineers also achieved three freshman records, en route to a 21st place finish among 34 teams from across Divisions One, Two and Three. LEWISTON, Maine On the strength of five event wins, the MIT mens track and field team captured the NCAA New England Division III Indoor Championship for the 10th time in program history and the first since 2003. Stephen Morton had an outstanding overall day, taking home three individual event titles while setting a pair of Institute records, to help the Engineers dethrone defending New England Champion, Williams College. Tech earned 132.5 points to outlast the Ephs, who finished with 109. Greg Tao and the Distance Medley relay team were also crowned New England Champs. READ MORE
