CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The men's track team finished 28th in the 36 team field this past weekend at the New England Outdoor Men's and Women's Track and Field Championship (NEIAAA). Host MIT accumulated just seven points over 22 events, while the University of Rhode Island won the competition with a total of 124.50 points.
Senior David Blau placed fifth in the 100 meter dash (10.89) and seventh in the 200 (21.96) to accumulate six of MIT's seven points on the day. Earning the other point was freshman James Oleinik, who took eighth place in the shot put with a mark of 48-09.00.
Also competing this weekend at the IC4A Championship in Princeton, New Jersey, was senior Uzoma Orji. As the only athlete to represent MIT, he garnered four points in the hammer throw (188-10) and five in the shot put (53-10.50).
Orji will look to build on those marks as he prepares for the ECAC Championship. The meet will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
