Men’s Volleyball Collects Slew of NECVA Awards

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following the most successful season in the history of the men's volleyball program, MIT received 16 honors from the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA). The award tally was the second highest for the Engineers since they came away with 19 accolades in 2007.

For the second time in his career, head coach Paul Dill was voted the New England Division Co-Coach of the Year. He helped guide the Cardinal and Gray to its first 30-win season and its second semifinal appearance in the NECVA Championship Tournament.

Matt Hohenberger earned the program's second NECVA Rookie of the Year award to go along with NECVA All-Conference Second Team, New England Division Rookie of the Year, New England All-Division First Team, and NECVA Championship All-Tournament First Team plaudits. Mike Demyttenaere earned spots on the NECVA All-Conference Second Team and the New England All-Division First Team. Eric Reuland represented MIT on the New England All-Division First Team and the NECVA Championship All-Tournament First Team. David Thomas and Tim Lee were selected to the New England All-Division Second Team, marking their first league honors.

The Engineers picked up the NECVA Academic Team Award for the fifth time while Benson George, Demyttenaere, and Reuland received individual All-Academic Team accolades.
