Men’s Volleyball Falls to Newbury, 3-1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Local rival Newbury College defeated No. 13 MIT, 23-30, 30-19, 30-22, 30-24, in a North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division match on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Engineers’ ledger moved to 6-2 on the year and 2-1 in conference action.

Mike Demyttenaere paced MIT with 10 kills and seven blocks as Patrick Vatterott registered 10 kills and two blocks. Alex Becherer tallied eight kills, two aces, and 33-errorless service receptions while Garrett Winther posted eight digs, six kills, and three blocks. David Thomas contributed eight kills and three blocks as Eric Reuland collected a team-high 10 digs. Matt Hohenberger notched six digs and five kills while Jeremy Velazquez recorded six digs and two aces. Tim Lee compiled 34 assists and seven digs as Caine Jette dished out 10 assists in one set.
