CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men's volleyball team defeated Emerson College, 25-15, 25-14, 25-13, in a non-conference match on Thursday night. The Engineers, tied for seventh in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national rankings, improved to 9-1 on the year, while the Lions saw their ledger dip to 3-2 overall.
Ken Siebert racked up 11 kills, four blocks, and three aces as Patrick Vatterott posted six kills, four blocks, and two aces for MIT. Matt Hohenberger notched eight kills while Billy Evans and Evan Wang both registered six kills. Garrett Winther contributed five kills and three blocks as Jeremy Velazquez anchored the defense with nine digs. Caine Jette totaled eight digs and three aces while Tim Lee compiled 37 assists and four digs.
Jeff Ackerstein paced the Lions with four kills as Evan Ong led the way with five digs.
MIT resumes North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division play on Friday, Jan. 28 when it travels to Southern Vermont College. Emerson continues non-conference action the next day when it hosts Daniel Webster College.
