MIT Joins United Volleyball Conference; Begins Play in 2014
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The MIT men's volleyball team will join the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) starting in 2014. The Engineers who have been an independent team for the past two seasons will begin conference play immediately with the UVC.

MIT Receives Trio of Capital One Academic All-America At-Large First Team Honors
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seniors Molly McShane (Lake Bluff, Ill.) and Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) along with junior Joseph Rafidi (Los Angeles, Calif.) were named to the Capital One Academic All-America At-Large First Team on Tuesday. The three first-team selections tied for the highest tally among Division III programs this year and is tied for the second most in MIT history. The Engineers are the all-time Division III leader in producing Academic All-Americas and currently ranks third across all NCAA Divisions with 199 honorees.

MIT Collects ECAC Men's Volleyball All-Star Awards
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Senior Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) and freshman Brendan Chang (Laytonsville, Md.) represented MIT on the inaugural Eastern College Athletic Conference Men’s Volleyball Division III All-Star Team as announced on Friday. In addition, Chang was named the Libero of the Year.

MIT Places Three on Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seniors Molly McShane (Lake Bluff, Ill.) and Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) along with junior Joseph Rafidi (Los Angeles, Calif.) were selected to the Capital One Academic All-District at-large team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America last week. The trio will represent MIT on the national ballot and vie for Academic All-America honors to be voted on later this month.

Hohenberger and Chang Earn AVCA All-America Honors
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the first time in the history of the MIT men’s volleyball program, two players were selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America team as freshman Brendan Chang (Laytonsville, Md.) earned a spot on the first team while senior Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) was tabbed to the second team. In addition, Hohenberger became the second MIT men’s volleyball player to be a two-time honoree as he was voted to the first team last season.

Division III Men's Volleyball Championship Relocated To Nazareth College
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Due to the current events in Boston, Nazareth College has agreed to be the new host for the 2013 NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship, taking place at Kidera Gymnasium in Rochester, N.Y.

No. 1 Springfield Tops No. 13 Men's Volleyball in Three sets
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – In the regular-season finale for both squads, nationally-ranked No. 1 Springfield College defeated No. 13 MIT, 25-19, 25-22, 25-17, in men’s volleyball action on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers (24-12) and the Pride (29-3) await their postseason fate for earning one of three an at-large bids to the NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship which will be hosted at MIT from April 26-28. The national selection show announcing the nine-team field will air on www.ncaa.com on Sunday, April 14 at 8:30 p.m.

No. 13 MIT Blanks Endicott, 3-0
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In its final home match of the regular season, the nationally-ranked No. 13 MIT men's volleyball team defeated Endicott College, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22 on Tuesday night. The victory extended the Engineers' winning streak to 12 and lifted their ledger to 24-11 on the year while the Gulls dipped to 20-9 on the season.

Engineers Finish Second at MIT Scramble Tournament
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second year in a row, nationally-ranked No. 13 MIT went undefeated en route to second place at the MIT Men’s Volleyball Scramble Tournament this past weekend. No. 1 Springfield College also went through the tournament unscathed; however, the Pride had the advantage in sets won-lost, 12-0 to 12-1, which helped it capture the title. Senior Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) and junior Paul Syta (Fairport, N.Y.) represented the Engineers (23-11) on the all-tournament team.

Men's Volleyball Ranked 13th in AVCA Coaches Poll
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Although the MIT men’s volleyball team has been on a two-week hiatus from competition, it managed to move up one spot to 13th in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Top 15 Coaches Poll. The rankings saw a considerable amount of shuffling as seven other teams found a new slot in the standings while one squad moved onto the poll as another dropped out.

No. 14 MIT Defeats Emmanuel, 3-1
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In its final match before spring break, the nationally-ranked No. 14 MIT men’s volleyball team defeated local rival Emmanuel College, 25-19, 31-33, 25-20, 25-18, on Thursday night. The Engineers extended their winning streak to seven while improving to 19-11 on the year. The Saints, meanwhile, saw their ledger lower to 9-12 for the season.

MIT Captures Johnson & Wales Invitational Title
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The nationally-ranked No. 14 MIT men’s volleyball team swept its way to first place at the Johnson & Wales University Invitational held this past weekend. The Engineers (18-11) topped Daniel Webster College (25-15, 25-23, 25-15), York College (N.Y.) (25-16, 25-18, 25-20), New Jersey City University (25-19, 25-11, 25-13), and the host Wildcats (25-15, 25-16, 25-16) for their first tournament crown of the season. Senior Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) was named the Tournament MVP while classmate Patrick Vatterott (St. Louis, Mo.) secured a spot on the all-tournament team.

Men's Volleyball Goes 3-1 at Endicott March Mania Invitational
BEVERLY, Mass. – The nationally-ranked No. 13 MIT men’s volleyball team compiled a 3-1 ledger at the Endicott College March Mania Invitational held this past weekend. The Engineers defeated Johnson & Wales University, 25-8, 25-22, 24-26, 25-16, but fell to Emmanuel College, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23, on Saturday. MIT responded by topping Sage College (24-26, 25-13, 25-18, 25-20) and No. 14 Rivier University (19-25, 26-24, 25-21, 26-24) to improve to 13-11 on the year. Senior Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) represented the Cardinal and Gray on the all-tournament team.

Harvard Tops Men's Volleyball, 3-0
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In its annual battle with cross-town rival Harvard University, the host Crimson defeated nationally-ranked No. 13 MIT, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19, in a non-conference men’s volleyball match on Tuesday night. Senior Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) produced a team-high 10 kills to go along with four digs for the Engineers (11-10).

No. 13 MIT Falls to No. 1 Springfield in Five-Set Thriller
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a back-and-forth affair, nationally-ranked No. 1 Springfield College emerged with a 25-21, 21-25, 25-15, 20-25, 15-12 victory over No. 13 MIT in a men’s volleyball match on Wednesday night. The Pride improved to 13-3 on the season while the Engineers’ ledger lowered to 11-9 for the year.

Engineers Move Up in AVCA Coaches Poll
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After taking down nationally-ranked No. 4 Stevens Institute of Technology and No. 12 Stevenson University this past weekend, the MIT men’s volleyball team moved up two spots to No. 13 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Men’s Top 15 Coaches Poll. In addition, the Engineers (11-8) have extended their streak of consecutive weeks in the national poll to 30.

MIT Battles Nationally-Ranked Teams at Baruch Invitational
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Facing a full slate of nationally-ranked opponents at the Baruch College Invitational this past weekend, No. 15 MIT came away with a record of 2-2. The Engineers fell to No. 11 Elmira College, 25-20, 25-17, 25-21, but bounced back to defeat No. 4 Stevens Institute of Technology, 26-24, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23 on Saturday. The next day, MIT outlasted No. 12 Stevenson University, 25-21, 25-27, 25-17, 23-25, 15-9, and then dropped a 25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 23-25, 17-15 thriller to No. 14 Vassar College. Senior Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) represented the Cardinal and Gray on the all-tournament second team.

Men’s Volleyball Finishes as Runner-up at MIT Invitational
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second year in a row, nationally-ranked No. 15 MIT and No. 10 Rivier University met in what proved to be the championship match of the MIT Men’s Volleyball Invitational, but it was the Raiders who emerged with a 21-25, 25-23, 25-16, 20-25, 15-13 victory to capture the title on Sunday afternoon. Earlier in the weekend, the Engineers swept Emerson College (25-12, 25-13, 25-14), Johnson & Wales University (25-20, 25-14, 25-19), and Lasell College (25-22, 25-19, 25-21). Senior Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) and junior Paul Syta (Fairport, N.Y.) represented the Cardinal and Gray on the all-tournament team.

Men's Volleyball Sweeps Mount Ida, 3-0
NEWTON, Mass. – Sophomore Brad Gross (Centreville, Va.) posted 11 kills, a .318 hitting percentage, and four digs to help the nationally-ranked No. 13 MIT men’s volleyball team sweep Mount Ida College, 25-11, 25-16, 25-15, on Wednesday night. With the win, the Engineers improved to 6-5 on the year.

No. 13 MIT Goes 2-2 at Golden Flyer Invitational
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The nationally-ranked No. 13 MIT men’s volleyball saw its record move to 5-5 on the year after a 2-2 performance at the Golden Flyer Invitational hosted by Nazareth College this past weekend. The Engineers swept No. 11 Medaille College, 25-22, 20-15, 25-20, but fell to Elmira College, 20-25, 25-18, 21-25, 27-25, 15-7, on Saturday. The next day, MIT blanked Southern Vermont College, 27-25, 25-21, 25-19, and then dropped a 28-30, 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 15-8 decision to No. 5 Nazareth. Junior Paul Syta (Fairport, N.Y.) represented the Cardinal and Gray on the all-tournament team.

Engineers Blank Elms, 3-0
CHICOPEE, Mass. – On the strength of a balanced attack, the nationally-ranked No. 13 MIT men’s volleyball team defeated Elms College, 25-15, 25-8, 25-18, on Thursday night. With the win, the Engineers improved to 3-3 on the year while the Blazers suffered their first loss of the season which lowered their ledger to 4-1.

Men's Volleyball Battles at Live Free or Die Tournament
NASHUA, N.H. – At the inaugural Live Free or Die Tournament hosted by Daniel Webster College and Rivier College, the No. 9 MIT men’s volleyball team compiled a ledger of 1-3 this past weekend. The Engineers (2-3) fell to SUNY New Paltz, 25-23, 25-19, 18-25, 17-25, 16-14, but defeated Daniel Webster, 25-22, 25-16, 37-39, 19-25, 15-10, on Saturday. Facing a pair of nationally-ranked foes, MIT dropped decisions to No. 13 Baruch College (23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-27, 24-22) and No. 7 Rivier (25-23, 25-15, 25-19) on Sunday. Senior Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) represented the Cardinal and Gray on the all-tournament team.

No. 9 MIT Sweeps Wentworth
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In the season-opener for both squads, nationally-ranked No. 9 MIT defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 25-16, 25-20, 25-15, in a non-conference men’s volleyball match on Tuesday night. Junior Ken Siebert (St. Louis, Mo.) produced a match-high 12 kills to go along with two blocks for the Engineers while sophomore Sean Donahue (Lincoln, R.I.) paced the Leopards with seven kills and two blocks.

Men's Volleyball Earns Spot in AVCA Coaches Poll
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the second straight year, the MIT men’s volleyball team was ranked No. 9 in the preseason edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Men’s Top 15 Coaches Poll. In the eight years the Engineers have appeared in the preseason rankings, this the fourth time they have cracked the top 10. In addition, MIT extends its streak of consecutive weeks in the national poll to 25.

MIT Men’s Volleyball Releases 2013 Schedule
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the third year in a row, the MIT men’s volleyball team will open up its season against Wentworth Institute of Technology with the home match slated for Tuesday, Jan. 22. The Engineers then travel to New Hampshire to compete in the first of seven tournaments while seven individual matches round out the schedule.

MIT Selected to Host 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – MIT was selected to host the second annual NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship to be held April 26-28, 2013 in Rockwell Cage. This will be the second year in a row the national championship will be held in Massachusetts as Springfield College served as the inaugural host this past spring.

MIT Volleyball Receives AVCA Team Academic Award
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the sixth year in a row, the MIT men’s and women’s volleyball teams qualified for the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award. Vassar College was the only other Division III double-honoree while George Mason, Harvard, and Stanford accomplished this feat at the Division I level.
