MIT Collects ECAC Men's Volleyball All-Star Awards
CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Senior Matt Hohenberger (St. Louis, Mo.) and freshman Brendan Chang (Laytonsville, Md.) represented MIT on the inaugural Eastern College Athletic Conference Men's Volleyball Division III All-Star Team as announced on Friday. In addition, Chang was named the Libero of the Year.
Hohenberger, a two-time All-America honoree at outside hitter, graduates as MIT's all-time leader in aces in a career (238) and a season (104) along with aces per set for a career (0.60) and season (0.99). He ranks second in career kills (1,495), fourth in hitting percentage (.337), and fifth in career kills per set (3.76). This year, Hohenberger placed third in the nation in kills per set (4.10) and 17th in aces per set (0.45).
Chang, the first freshman and libero at MIT to earn All-America honors, set the Institute records for digs in a season (446), digs per set (3.35), and digs in a three-set match with 22 versus Southern Vermont College on April 6. He finished second in the country in digs per set and as the Engineers' primary passer he generated a .950 reception percentage while committing 29 reception errors in 584 attempts.
