Why I Chose MIT: When I began my search in high school for a college that fit me, I had many preconceptions when it came to MIT – both good and bad. The initial positive thoughts were from the straight facts I could research at home: the great teachers ratings, the extensive list of research opportunities, the perfect college location, and the list goes on. However at the same time, I was skeptical of the involvement of the student body and was worried of the pressures that the rigorous academics could create. All of my negative thoughts changed for the better with my visit to MIT. I quickly learned that the student body is nothing to be skeptical of but instead friendly, involved, and above all supportive of one another. I also learned that the majority of students at MIT could find easy ways to balance their academics with a social life to reduce the pressures of school. Knowing that MIT not only offers academic excellence but also an involved and supportive student body made it an easy choice for where I was to spend my next four years.
