CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Michael Demyttenaere was a force to be reckoned with at the service line as he amassed an Institute-record 15 aces in MIT’s 30-15, 30-10, 30-10, victory over NECVA New England foe Lesley University on Wednesday. Praveen Pamidimukkala ’08 set the previous standard for aces in a match, tallying nine at Southern Vermont College in 2007. With the win, the Engineers improved to 2-3 on the year and 1-0 in conference action.
In addition to his stellar serving performance, Demyttenaere posted seven kills and two blocks. Scott Pollom registered an efficient hitting outing, connecting on seven out of nine attack attempts for a .778 percentage. Randolph Li and Jeremy Velazquez both compiled five kills and three digs as Benson George notched five aces. Caine Jette and Tim Lee shared setting responsibilities, dishing out 18 and seven assists, respectively.
