CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - The MIT men's volleyball team defeated Lesley University, 30-9, 30-7, 30-11, in the inaugural meeting between both squads on Tuesday night. The Engineers (11-3) established a new Institute mark for aces in a match with 24.
Kenneth Rosche paced Tech with 11 kills while Scott Pollom was perfect in his attack with eight kills on eight swings. Alex Borschow also contributed eight kills as Steve Ray finished with seven kills and six aces. Jordan Wan and Ryan Dean split setting duties with Wan totaling 12 assists in the first game while Dean closed the contest with a career-high 24 assists. Dean added a team-high seven aces as Rosche and Borschow each notched four.
The Lynx (0-8), in their first season of varsity competition, were led by Clayton Janer with an ace. Tim Blake and Derek Perentau each posted one dig.
The next match for MIT will be on Wednesday, Feb. 22 when it travels to Rivier College.
