CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - For the first time in his career, senior Ryan Dean was selected as the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division Player of the Week. The award comes after a 3-0 week that featured a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents.
Dean averaged 10.62 assists, 3.85 digs, and 0.69 kills and blocks through 13 games. In a NECVA New England Division match at No. 15 Newbury College, he recorded 46 assists, 13 digs, three kills, two blocks, and an ace. The next day against No. 15 Milwaukee School of Engineering, Dean tallied 35 assists, 11 digs, three kills, three blocks, and an ace. He wrapped up the week with 57 assists, 26 digs, four blocks, three kills, and an ace at Elms College. Dean fell four digs shy of tying the Institute standard for digs in a match (30) while MIT notched an overall hitting percentage of .267 (179-60-445).
The Engineers will continue action on the road on Tuesday, March 4 when they travel to Endicott College.
