CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior middle hitter Michael Demyttenaere was voted the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Player of the Week after collecting New England Division Player of the Week accolades. The award is Demyttenaere’s first and it also marks MIT’s first recipient this season.
In a 4-0 week for the Engineers, Demyttenaere averaged 4.00 kills, 1.50 blocks, and 0.92 aces per game. He compiled 20 kills, a .500 hitting percentage, and four blocks in a sweep of Wentworth Institute of Technology. The next day, Demyttenaere totaled 13 kills, a .632 hitting performance, six blocks, and five aces versus Daniel Webster College. Against conference foe Elms College, he notched eight kills, a .353 hitting percentage, eight blocks, and two aces. Demyttenaere wrapped up the week with seven kills on eight hitting attempts, four aces, and three blocks in two games against Emerson College.
