CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men’s volleyball team picked up a trio of awards from the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) this week. David Thomas was selected the conference’s Rookie of the Week in addition to being voted the New England Division’s Rookie of the Week. Tim Lee completed the sweep for the Engineers as he received New England Division Player of the Week plaudits.
Thomas averaged 4.22 kills and 0.89 blocks in three matches last week. He registered 12 kills in a loss to Harvard before compiling a career-high 23 kills to go along with a .442 hitting percentage and three blocks in a five-game win over Emmanuel College. In one set versus Mount Ida College, Thomas posted four blocks and three kills.
Lee recorded 10.60 assists, 1.20 digs, and 0.70 blocks en route to his first conference honor. He tallied 33 assists, four digs, and two blocks at Harvard and then registered 50 assists, three blocks, and three kills against Emmanuel. Lee wrapped up the week with 23 assists, five digs, and two blocks in two games versus Mount Ida.
