CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – B2 Networks and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) announced a multi-year partnership on Wednesday, bringing events from the prestigious institution to the Internet exclusively through technology provided by B2 Networks. The first event to be broadcast from the MIT campus will be 2009 North East Collegiate Volleyball Association Conference Championship Tournament beginning on Friday, April 3 at 2 p.m. EDT.
Fans looking to catch this weekend’s broadcasts can go either click on the B2 link located at www.mitathletics.com to www.b2tv.com 10 minutes before game time and click the “Broadcast Schedule” tab at the top of the page for access. The cost to view games live is $7 per match.
With MIT's international reputation and diverse student body, the exclusive partnership with B2 will allow viewing of MIT athletics on a worldwide basis. As the agreement moves forward into the 2009-10 school year, numerous events and broadcast schedules will be announced. While the main focus will be on sports, proprietary B2 technology can be used for global exposure of MIT endeavors.
"The reach of MIT from our students and their families to our alumni extends worldwide," said Dept. Chair and Director of Athletics Julie Soriero. "We are pleased about the opportunity to partner with B2Networks in bringing their high quality service as we share the excitement and the successes of our programs with the extended MIT family."
In addition to live events, MIT programming will be available 24 hours a day on the MIT channel available through B2's new cable-style Network, www.B2CableTV.com. All events on MIT TV and all other channels on B2CableTV are free of cost.
"To have an institution with the reputation of MIT choose B2 Networks technology and operations systems above all others is truly a great day for our company," said Bruce LeVine, B2 Networks Senior Vice President. "With MIT's international reach, we hope all interested viewers will now be able to follow events from the one of the leading technology universities in the world.”
