No. 10 Philadelphia Biblical Edges Out No. 7 Newbury, 3-1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 10 seeded Philadelphia Biblical University recorded a 30-27, 28-30, 30-16, 30-20, victory over No. 7 Newbury College in the first round of the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) Championship Tournament on Friday. With the win the nationally-ranked No. 7 Crimson Eagles improved to 21-11 on the year and will take on No. 2 seed and nationally-ranked No. 5 Nazareth College in quarterfinal action on Saturday. The Nighthawks closed their season with a ledger of 23-12.
Justin Brubaker powered Philadelphia Biblical with 28 kills, a .386 hitting percentage, 12 digs, two aces, and two blocks. Ben Fuller recorded 13 kills and 11 digs as Leandro Dueck notched 11 kills and 14 digs. Drew Dillon dished out 53 assists while Cory Ermold totaled four blocks.
Mark Thomas paced Newbury with 16 kills and three blocks as Bryan McDermand registered 11 kills and two blocks. James Beck chipped in 10 kills and two blocks while Joshua Aberly tallied 10 digs, three aces, and two blocks. Matt Talamantes finished with 44 assists, 14 digs, and three blocks as Michael Biuso contributed 10 digs.
