BOSTON, Mass. – Richard Prevost and Gihan Amarasiriwardena finished one-two but it was not enough, as the MIT men's cross country team finished second behind RPI at the Engineer's Cup on Saturday afternoon. RPI secured places four through nine for a total of 30 points, eight better than the Cardinal and Gray's score. WPI was third with 69 points.
Prevost finished three seconds ahead of Amarasiriwardena with a time of 26:39 on the eight-kilometer course. Matthew Metlitz was the next Tech runner across the line, in 10th place with a time of 27:10. Jacob Young came through the chute 10 seconds later and in 12th. He was followed by Logan Trimble (27:28) in 14th.
MIT travels to UMass-Dartmouth next Saturday, September 18 for an invitational meet beginning at 12:00 p.m.
