CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following a career-best performance at the All-New England Championship, freshman Roy Wedge was named the Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) on Monday. Wedge helped lead the Engineers, who are ranked No. 17 in the nation, to an 18th-place finish overall, fifth best among Division III teams at the meet.
Wedge came through with a 64th-place standing among over 300 runners from Divisions I, II and III on Tech's home course at Franklin Park. The freshman's time of 25:50 was an improvement of over one and a half minutes from his previous best on this course and was the top individual showing among NEWMAC harriers in the competition.
Wedge is the third MIT runner to collect conference accolades this year, joining Paul Welle and Katherine Eve as Runner of the Week selections.
