Track & Field/Cross Country Program Gain Five Academic All-Americans
AUSTIN, Texas – Five members of the MIT men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams were honored today for their academic and athletics achievements as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) named them members of the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Track & Field/Cross Country teams.

NEWMAC Announces Fall Academic All-Conference Awards
BOSTON, Mass. – A league-leading 71 athletes represented MIT on the 2014 New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Fall Academic All-Conference Team. Criteria includes a minimum GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale, achieving second year academic status at his or her institution, and being a member of a varsity team for the entire season.

Men’s Cross Country Sweeps Top Spots to Win 17th Consecutive NEWMAC Title
Northampton, Mass. – MIT’s men’s cross country team won the program’s 17th consecutive NEWMAC team title at Smith College on Saturday. Ranked 11th in the most recent national poll, the Engineers scored a perfect 15 points by claiming the top seven spots in the field of 116 runners. Nine Engineers earned All-Conference honors for individually finishing in the top 14 in the race.

Men’s Cross Country Races to Ninth Place at NEICAAA Championships
Boston, Mass. – MIT's men’s cross country team returned to action this weekend competing at the NEICAAA Championships. Ranked 13th in the most recent polls, Tech battled the rain and cold to finish ninth in a field of 39 teams and was the second highest scoring Division III squad at the meet. Annually run at historic Franklin Park in Boston, the NEICAAA Championships are one of the oldest collegiate cross country meets dating back to 1912. The meet features teams from Division I, II, and III from across New England.

Men’s Cross Country Kicks Off Season at Purple Valley Classic
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – In the first contest of the 2014 cross country season, the No. 8 ranked Engineers’ men’s cross county team finished third at the annual Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College. With temperatures in the 80s at race time, Tech battled the heat and challenging hills of the 8k course that they will revisit for the New England Division III Championships on November 15th.

Bullock, Konopka Receive NCAA Postgrad Scholarships
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Recent MIT alums Justin Bullock ‘14 (Detroit, Mich.) and Jaclyn Konopka ‘14 (Novi, Mich.), who competed for the men’s and women’s track and field teams, were both awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, a grant worth $7,500 for postgraduate study.
