Maloney Named as NEWMAC Men's XC Athlete of the Week

Westwood, Mass. (October 10) -- MIT junior All-American Dennis Maloney (New Albany, Ohio) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his performance at the NEICAAA Championship.

At the NEICAAA Championship, Maloney finished sixth overall and was the first D3 finisher as he crossed in a time of 25:29.7. Averaging 5:07.7 per mile, Maloney led the team to a runner-up overall finish and the New England D3 Championship as he earned All-New England honors.

MIT returns to action on Saturday, October 14th as the Engineers travel to the Cowbell Classic in Elsah, Ill. The meet is being held at the Principia North Farm Course and is hosted by Principia College. The course is the site of the NCAA Division III National Championship, which will take place on November 18th.
