Men's Cross Country Places Third At UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Junior Hemagiri Arumugam paced the MIT men's cross country team for the second week in a row as the Engineers placed third out of 38 teams at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational over the weekend.
Arumugam finished with a time of 25:25, good for 13th overall. Paul Welle crossed the finish line seven seconds later, placing 19th. Yermie Cohen, running for the first time this season, was the next fastest MIT harrier, finishing 25th with a time of 25:35. Gihan Amarasiriwardena was just a second slower as he placed 27th. Dan Harper rounded the scoring for the Engineers, placing 34th with a time of 25:49.
Tech's 118 points were good for third overall, just three points behind fellow NEWMAC competitor Coast Guard. Keene State captured the team title with 85 total points.
The Engineers will compete in the Purple Valley Classic in Williamstown, Mass. next Saturday, September 27.
