Pena Picks Up NEWMAC Athlete of the Week Accolades

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following two solid outings in an undefeated week for the MIT women's basketball team, freshman guard Tamara Pena was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Athlete of the Week. She averaged 8.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals as the Engineers topped Pine Manor College and Fisher College.

Pena posted seven points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in a 54-46 win over Pine Manor last Tuesday. She followed this up with 10 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and three steals as MIT defeated Fisher, 64-32, on Saturday.

Winners of three straight, the Engineers (3-2) enter NEWMAC play this week as they travel to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and Springfield College. Live audio will be available for Coast Guard on Tuesday, Nov. 30 while Springfield will provide live stats on Saturday, Dec. 4.
