KEENE, N.H. – MIT junior Mari Kordell (Ijamsville, Md.) was placed on the New England Women's Basketball Association Honor Roll after two impressive performances last week. She averaged 19 points, four assists, and 3.5 rebounds in leading the women's basketball team to a pair of key wins which put the Engineers in the NEWMAC Tournament for the first time since 2008.
In a 57-56 victory at Babson College last Wednesday, Kordell led all scorers with 23 points, going 8-of-15 from the floor, 3-of-5 from behind the arc, and 4-of-6 at the charity stripe while playing all 40 minutes. She then produced 15 points, a game-high six assists, and four rebounds during 37 minutes of action in a 56-48 win over WPI on Saturday.
The No. 7 seed in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament, MIT will travel to No. 2 Wheaton College on Wednesday, Feb. 26 for a 7:00 p.m. tip.
