
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. In its first attempt, the MIT womens basketball team placed 14th on the Womens Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The award, given at the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and Junior College/Community College levels, recognizes programs that carry the highest grade point averages for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches. Coming on the heels of one of the most successful campaigns in Institute history, MIT placed 11th among all Division III schools in the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) annual Learfield Sports Directors Cup. This was the highest ranking for the Engineers in the 14-year history of the program and the first time they were the best performers in the New England Womens and Mens Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
