MIT Loses To UMass-Dartmouth, 69-55

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's basketball team defeated MIT, 69-55, in non-conference action on Thursday night. Cherelle Walls equaled a career-high mark of 14 points coming off the bench and grabbed six rebounds for the Engineers (3-9).

The majority of the first half was tightly played as it featured nine lead changes and two ties. A three-pointer by Clara Yuan put MIT ahead for the final time at the 8:27 mark (19-17). The Corsairs (8-8) responed by going on a 21-6 run to enter the intermission with a 38-25 advantage.

UMass-Dartmouth maintained its double-digit margin until Kimberly Soo Hoo cut the deifict to eight on a three-point play (50-42) halfway through the second stanza. It was as close as MIT would get as it was held without a field goal for the next five minutes while the Corsairs doubled their lead.

Yuan totaled 13 points including a trio of three-pointers, tying the Institute mark of 32 made three-point field goals in a season. She also finished with a team-high nine rebounds and three steals. Soo Hoo tallied 11 points and eight assists while Karen Kinnaman chipped in eight points.
