Women's Basketball Falls to Mount Holyoke, 58-44

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Rookie Alice Yeh totaled a career-high 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range for MIT in its 58-44 loss to Mount Holyoke College on Saturday. As a team, the Engineers (7-14, 2-9 NEWMAC) made 9-of-15 attempts from behind the arc while only making five shots from the floor.

A trey by Michal Ruchelsman 25 seconds into the contest gave Tech its only lead of the game (3-2), as the Lyons rattled off 16 unanswered points during the next 12 minutes. Kimberly Soo Hoo ended the scoring drought with back-to-back threes which also narrowed the deficit to nine (18-9). Mount Holyoke went on to take a 30-16 advantage at halftime.

The Lyons maintained their defensive pressure in the second stanza as they extended their lead to 19 points and held the Engineers scoreless during the first 3:36. Tech eventually narrowed the margin to 10 on two occasions, the last occurring at 52-42 with 2:17 left to play.

Christa Margossian collected a team-high nine rebounds while Clara Yuan grabbed six boards.
