Rookies Earn NFC All-Star Honors for Women's Fencing
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The MIT women's fencing team saw freshmen Cordelia Avery (New York, N.Y.) and Jessica Li (Englewood, Colo.) receive All-Star accolades from the Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) on Monday. Avery claimed a spot on the Sabre First Team while Li was selected to the Foil Second Team.
In her NFC debut, Avery went 17-1 en route to a 26-5 record this season while collecting the program's fourth straight sabre first-team nod. Li amassed a total of 29-5 to become the first foil all-star since Cordelia Link '10 was a four-time first-team honoree.
MIT starts its postseason push on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the New England Championship to be hosted by Mount Holyoke College.
