CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In its first competition since December, the MIT women's fencing team posted wins over host Boston College (18-9), Smith College (24-3), and Dartmouth College (20-7) on Saturday. The Engineers dropped a pair of close decisions to Brown University (16-11) and Brandeis University (17-10).
The foil squad notched the best record for Tech with a 30-15 mark, including a 9-0 showing against Smith. Nancy Hua was the most victorious member of the team as she went 12-3 on the day with a trio of 3-0 performances. Gemma Mendel bolstered MIT's effort with a 9-2 ledger.
The sabre squad tallied three wins en route to a 24-21 record. Shauna Jin led the way with a 10-4 ledger.
